Food and feeding
Some specimens of Chukai bettas will accept flake foods while others will just refuse it. They fare much better on a diet of live or frozen foods. Brine shrimp, blood worms, daphnia and micro worms are ideal; vary them with each meal to prevent the fish from getting bored with one type of food.
Origin
Asia; Chukai bettas are found in Malaysia.
Sexing
Males display a brighter colouration and have extended dorsal and anal fins.
Breeding
Chukai bettas are bubble nest builders but unlike most of the other Betta species, the male will show no aggression to the female when guarding the nest. Keep one pair of fish in the tank as other fish will distract them, add floating plants or a piece of polystyrene to aid the fish create the bubble nest. The spawning will take 2-3 hours and about 40-50 eggs will be laid. These should hatch after 2 days and a few days later the fry will be free swimming.

Short description
