Origin

South America; Candy cane gobies are to be found in the waterways of Brazil.

Sexing

There are no visible differences between the sexes.

Breeding

Several attempts have been made to breed Awaous flavus in the aquarium but after spawning, the fry are very difficult to grow on successfully.

Lifespan

The expected life span for Candy cane goby is 5-8 years.

Short description

Awaous flavus require brackish conditions for long term good health. The salinity should be between 1.000-1.015. They can be kept in small groups of the same species but if different species of Goby are added they will be aggressive. Try to use a low water current in the tank and high water quality must be maintained. Use sand for the substrate and add some rocks to provide hiding places for them.
